Good Maintenace of Gym Equipment = Happy Members!

There are plenty of reasons for a person to want to stick with their current gym membership. Whether it’s because they get used to their routine, or appreciate the friendly staff – few people are ever so lucky to find a gym they can be completely comfortable visiting regularly.

That being said, the same would apply when considering all the reasons why anyone would want to move to another gym. If you find yourself in such a situation, always remember to ask yourself why you started your gym routine to begin with, and whether your gym is helping you fulfill your fitness objectives.

Before making any hasty decisions, consider the following list of indicators to see if your current gym’s equipment is up to standard. Few things can sap your motivation to get fit like frequently broken down machines and unmaintained equipment, so don’t settle for a gym that isn’t serviceable!

Proper and Regular Maintenance
Gym machines require periodic maintenance, just like any other tool or piece of hardware would. Whether it’s pulley systems that need oiling, or rubber coating that needs replacing, a properly and regularly maintained gym is easy to spot. However, don’t be too quick to write off your gym just because some of the weight plates and dumbbells look old. If broken and unserviceable machines aren’t a common sight at your gym, then that’s always a good sign.

Rust-free and Clean
A gym’s equipment should always be serviceable, especially since it sees regular use by its numerous members. However, proper maintenance of a gym should also involve the cleaning of equipment, and replacement of parts that are worn beyond function. If rust and dust are commonplace with your gym equipment, we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to shop for a more attractive gym.

Sufficient Variety

Every gym is different, especially when it caters to a specific type of athletic profile. Spin rooms and classes would undoubtedly be decked out with indoor exercise bicycles, and crossfit gyms with barbells and different types of free weights. However, if you aren’t looking to fulfill a very specific training regime, it’s probably best that you look for a gym that can cater to the widest variety of exercise profiles. Variety of equipment at a gym allows you to get creative with your routine, so working on your fitness goals doesn’t become a stale affair.

More Stations, Less Waiting
The amount of work out space you have in your gym can sometimes depend more on the number of exercise stations available, and less on what time you visit the gym. A typical workout station can be defined as an area with a bench, squat rack, or a multi station machine. It should make perfect sense that there’ll be less waiting involved in your workout, with more of such stations available to cater for popular exercises,

Good Gym Etiquette
This final indicator isn’t typically applicable to the state of your gym’s equipment, but does affect their longevity, and your overall experience as a patron. What is the community like at your gym? Are its patrons respectful of one another? If you notice good gym etiquette among your fellow gym-goers, chances are you’ve found a space that is able to keep its customers comfortable enough to pursue their individual fitness goals.
