The Latest in Functional Fitness Equipment

The team at Aussie Fitness are always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to train yourself, your clients or your gym members. Our purchasers attend trade shows around the world to make sure we are across the latest fitness trends and any new fitness innovations to hit the market.

Here are some the new Functional Fitness items we have added to our catalogue in the last 12 months.

Foam Plyo Boxes

3-in-1-foam-plo-boxOK, so Foam Plyo Boxes aren't exactly new, however they have increased in popularity massively over the last 12 months. The benefit of a foam plyo box is that for studio or school use, they are far safer and more forgiving if the jump goes wrong! You can either buy Foam Plyo's in a set of 4 or as a 3-in-1 box to save on space in the gym, studio or home.

A good foam plyometric box will have a vinyl covering that makes it easy to clean and a durable layer of quality high density foam around the box structure.

You can see our range of plyometric boxes here.

Training Chains

Weight-Lifting-ChainsAussie Fitness now stock weight lifting chains in 10kg, 20kg and 30kg weights.

Lifting chains works for bodybuilders for three reasons: 1) They help match the resistance curve of an exercise with the strength curve of a muscle; 2) they prolong the time under tension of an exercise; and 3) they increase the intensity of an exercise.

As a general rule, you want to use chains that are roughly 10% of the barbell weight (bar + plates + collars). So if the loaded barbell weight is 100 kilos, each chain should weigh 10 kilos. But don't get too detail-oriented—even a 15% chain will do.

See our range of weight lifting chains here.

Clubbells

Clubbell-Training

Unlike conventional weight-lifting, where you must increase the weight lifted, the Clubbell is swung. Swinging weight increases torque. Increasing torque increases force production. Conventional weight lifting is restricted to linear increases of force by adding weight.

Clubbell training increases force exponentially: swinging them twice as fast produces four times the torque. Superior force production means superior strength conditioning in a fraction of the time and without the litany of injuries associated with conventional weight training. Traction pulls apart the joints, rather than compressing them, which is why you’re put in traction in order to mend: it increases connective tissue strength.
